Description

The Piece

This lovely little box is modelled on a traditional Japanese woodworkers tool box.  It features a lift out lid that is gently wedged in place and contrasting Iroko feet. It would make a perfect gift or keepsake box.

The box is entirely handmade and hand finished and it is, and will remain, unique.

The Wood

The box itself is made from Cherry, appropriate for a Japanese style box. Unusually for me it is not wood I milled but some that I received as part payment for some that I had. It was felled and milled just on the edge of Windsor Great Park. The top keepers are made from Oak that was felled to make way for a house extension and the iroko for the lid hardware and the feet was reclaimed from changing room benches in the former Llangurig Primary School.

The Size

The box is 225mm long x 125mm wide x 150mm tall externally and 165mm x 100mm x120mm internally.
